The Bandit of Sherwood Forest 1948 Original Lobby Card Cornel Wilde, Anita Louise, Jill Esmond and Edgar Buchanan - VG Condition "Bandit of Sherwood Forest" is a 1946 adventure film directed by Henry Levin and George Sherman. It stars Cornel Wilde in the lead role as Robert of Nottingham, the son of the legendary Robin Hood. The movie follows Robert as he takes up his father's mantle and fights against a corrupt regent who has taken control of England during King Richard's absence. Robert, along with his loyal band of Merry Men, takes refuge in Sherwood Forest and carries on his father's mission to protect the poor and oppressed. As Robert assumes the identity of Robin Hood, he confronts Sir Roger's tyranny and seeks to unite the people of England against the regent's rule. Along the way, he encounters Lady Catherine Maitland (played by Anita Louise), a noblewoman who becomes an ally in his quest. The film features daring sword fights, thrilling archery competitions, and Robin Hood's signature acts of robbing the rich to give to the poor.
